We are thrilled to announce that Zeb Soanes has joined director Michael Boyd, actor Mattie Ziegler and poet George Szirtes as a champion of our organisation.
Zeb presents Smooth Classics at Seven on Classic FM and is also the author of the Gaspard the Fox series of children’s books.
“Puppets captivate children’s imaginations. Bits of painted wood and string become enchanted creatures, transporting us to other lands and experiences far from our own and all from the safety of a theatre seat. I vividly remember the Norwich Puppet Theatre’s visits to my primary school in Lowestoft and now, writing children’s stories of my own I am honoured to become their patron and look forward to helping them inspire future generations of creative minds.”
Zeb will also be lending his award-winning voice to us as The Narrator of this year’s Christmas show, Cinderella. The team also includes West End composers Michael Roulston & Sarah-Louise Young who will be writing some original songs for the show. Cinderella will also star Ronnie Le Drew, a premier puppeteer who has worked on The Muppets, Rainbow, and other well-known shows. The show is being written, directed, and designed by Mark Mander, known to most as his on-stage persona, Clementine Doll.
Norwich Puppet Theatre Director, Peter Beck, says:
“We are delighted to welcome renowned broadcaster and children’s author Zeb Soanes as a Patron of the Theatre. Zeb’s patronage reflects his strong belief in the power of puppetry and storytelling to encourage children’s creativity and open a world of magic and adventure. To have the support of such a celebrated broadcaster and author, who knows the Theatre so well, will help us to raise awareness of the vital work that we do with young people.”
