Norwich Puppet Theatre is a venue, theatre company and community outreach organisation. We are a registered charity dedicated to championing the special art form of puppetry and are committed to providing magical theatrical experiences and creative skills sessions for everyone through high quality puppet shows and workshops.

Situated inside a converted medieval church, the Theatre is one of only three building-based puppet theatres in England. Our public programme of family events offers an excellent introduction to the magic of theatre with original shows, activities and workshops for all ages.

The Theatre also presents evening performances for adult audiences, including the annual MANIPULATE Visual Theatre Festival in collaboration with Puppet Animation Scotland. We are committed to the development of arts practitioners, offering adult workshops and masterclasses.

Home to a family of puppets spanning over 40 years, the Theatre’s producing company creates new shows for family audiences, which play in Norwich before touring the UK and internationally.

Our Creative Engagement Team work across the county and further region, providing hands-on experiences for schools, charity organisations, and at public events. Our work provides a creative context which facilitates meaningful, relevant, exciting and inspiring learning opportunities.

Since lockdown we have created a new Online Puppet Theatre YouTube channel, where we upload creative how-to activity videos for children and families. We also produced some new performances of Roald Dahl’s Dirty Beasts and Revolting Rhymes poems which were created and performed by artists and companies associated with the Theatre. These were online from August – December 2020.
