Joy Haynes will be standing down as Director of Norwich Puppet Theatre from 31 March. During her four years she has led the organisation to raise the profile and reach of our audiences with acclaimed new productions, partnerships, education and talent development programmes. As a leading puppetry artist, Joy has been associated with the Theatre for over 20 years prior to her appointment as Director. Joy is standing down to focus on her creative work as a theatre maker and director, and will continue to remain close to the Theatre in this capacity.

Between November and January a collaborative project called ‘Working Together to Strengthen Puppetry’ funded by Arts Council England and managed by Puppet Centre Trust, brought together a group of individuals working in puppetry and related fields such as theatre, circus and street arts to explore how the puppetry sector might be better equipped to capitalise on its undoubted artistic successes by raising its own profile, building audiences and optimising funding opportunities.
